Sunbiz Daily is a free web application that makes Florida business registration data accessible and easy to explore. It maintains a mirror of the public record published by the Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz), covering the entire registry rather than only recent filings, and adds newly published filings every business day. Sunbiz Daily is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by the State of Florida.

## What Makes Sunbiz Daily Different from Sunbiz.org

The official Florida Sunbiz website (sunbiz.org) only allows searching by exact business name or document number. It has no industry filtering, no geographic search, no bulk access, and no way to find newly registered businesses by category. Sunbiz Daily fills this gap by providing:

- **Natural Language Search**: Search using plain English queries like "restaurants in Miami" or "plumbers near 33101." An AI parser (Anthropic's Claude) extracts structured filters (industry category, city, zip code) from natural language.
- **Industry Categorization**: Businesses are categorized by industry (e.g., "Restaurant", "Plumbing", "Hair Salon") by matching keyword rules against the business name, enabling industry-based filtering that Sunbiz.org does not support. Categorization is derived from the name alone and is not a statement about what a business actually does.
- **Interactive Map**: Geographic visualization of new business registrations across Florida using Leaflet.js with marker clustering.
- **Public REST API**: Free programmatic access to all three datasets for any registered user.
- **Daily Data Updates**: Newly published filings are processed every business day.

Sunbiz Daily mirrors the complete Florida business registry across three datasets, each with its own API resource:

- **Corporate filings** — corporations and LLCs, with officers, registered agent, and principal & mailing addresses.
- **Fictitious names** — "doing business as" (DBA) registrations, with their owners and principal address.
- **Partnerships** — Florida general partnerships, with their partners and registered agent.

Corporate filing-type codes: DOMP (Domestic Profit Corporation), FORP (Foreign Profit Corporation), DOMNP (Domestic Non-Profit Corporation), FORNP (Foreign Non-Profit Corporation), FLAL (Florida Limited Liability Company), FORL (Foreign Limited Liability Company), DOMLP (Domestic Limited Partnership), FORLP (Foreign Limited Partnership), TRUST (Trust), COOP (Cooperative), NPREG (Name Registration), AGENT (Registered Agent).

Each corporate filing record includes: corporation name, corporation number, filing type, filing date, status, FEI number, principal address, mailing address, registered agent, and up to 6 officers/directors.

Sunbiz Daily maintains a mirror of the full registry and processes newly published filings every business day, geocoding addresses and assigning industry categories. The data is public record under Florida law. Because it is a mirror, records appear here after the state publishes them and Sunbiz.org remains the authoritative source.

## Privacy

Florida business filings are public record. A business owner who used a home address can request a privacy takedown; for those filings Sunbiz Daily hides the people (officers, owners, or partners), the registered agent, and the mailing address, and generalizes the principal address to city level. The filing itself still appears in results.
