Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a record?

One filing handed to you: a row in a download, an item in an API list or job result, a line in a bulk file, or a single filing fetched by number from the API. Viewing a filing page on the site is not a record.

What does "billed once per 30 days" mean?

Running the exact same search, export or API request again within 30 days costs nothing — you only pay for records beyond what that request already returned. A request with different filters, a different page or a different date range is a new request and is charged as one, even if some of the records overlap.

What is a credit?

One credit pays for one record. Every account gets 500 free credits at the start of each 30-day cycle, counted from the day you joined; your account page shows the renewal date. Free credits that are not used by the end of the cycle expire — they do not carry over — and they are always spent before purchased credits.

Do I need a credit card for the free tier?

No. Create an account with your email and you have 500 free credits every 30 days with no payment details on file.

How do purchased credits and refunds work?

Credits are prepaid in packs or any amount from $5 at $2 per 1,000 records, and are used only after your free credits for the cycle. Unused purchased credits are refunded in full on request at the price you paid, no questions asked; the processing fee paid at purchase is not returned. Purchased credits expire after 12 months without use. Free and promotional credits carry no cash value and are never refunded.

Is the $40 plan really $40?

Yes. The subscription is charged at exactly $40 a month; we absorb the processing fee on the plan.
