Sunbiz Daily is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Summary: We collect minimal data needed to provide our services. We offer free user accounts for saved searches. Optional paid subscription processed securely through Stripe.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Signup method (password or magic link)

We also store your saved searches, export history, and API key metadata.

Legal Consent Records

When you accept our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, we record: your IP address, browser user agent, timestamp, the version of the terms/privacy policy you accepted, and the method of acceptance (e.g., signup checkbox). This data is retained as evidence of your consent and is not used for any other purpose.

Payment Information

Stripe processes subscription payments. We store only Stripe customer and subscription IDs for account management. We never store full card numbers, CVVs, or bank account details. All payment data is handled securely by Stripe.

  • Use advertising networks or targeted ads
  • Store full payment card or bank account details

Cookies

Sunbiz Daily uses minimal cookies necessary for basic website functionality:

  • CSRF Token: A security cookie that helps protect against cross-site request forgery attacks. This is a standard Django security feature.
  • Session Cookie: Used for authenticated user sessions (login state, saved searches).
  • PostHog Analytics: A cookie used by PostHog for session continuity across page views. It contains a randomly generated anonymous identifier and does not store personal information directly.

We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioral targeting purposes.

Server Logs

Like most websites, our server may automatically log basic request information including:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages visited and timestamps

These logs are used solely for debugging, security monitoring, and maintaining service reliability. They are not used for tracking or profiling visitors.

Service Monitoring

We periodically review aggregated account activity — such as signup counts, login frequency, search volume, and export rates — for operational health monitoring, abuse detection, and service improvement. This data is anonymized and aggregated before review; individual user actions are not attributed to specific accounts in these reports.

Business Data Displayed

The business information displayed on Sunbiz Daily (company names, addresses, officer names, etc.) is public record data from the Florida Division of Corporations. This information is already publicly available through official state sources.

AI-Powered Features

Sunbiz Daily uses artificial intelligence to enhance the search experience and classify businesses by industry:

  • Search Query Parsing: When you use the search feature, your search query text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to interpret your natural language query into structured filters.
  • Industry Classification: Business names from public filings are sent to Claude API to automatically classify businesses by industry type (e.g., "Restaurant", "Plumber").

What we send: Only the search query text you enter or the business corporation name. We do not send your IP address, personal information, or any identifying data.

Caching: Parsed search queries are cached indefinitely. If you search for "restaurants in miami" and someone else searches the same query later, only the first query is sent to the API.

Third-Party Services

Sunbiz Daily uses the following third-party services:

  • Anthropic Claude API: We use Anthropic's Claude AI to parse natural language search queries and classify businesses by industry. Search queries and business names are sent to their API. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
  • Umami Analytics: We use Umami Cloud for privacy-friendly website analytics. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and is fully GDPR compliant. It only collects anonymous, aggregated data such as page views and referrer information. For more details, see Umami's privacy policy.
  • PostHog: We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how the site is used and improve the experience. PostHog collects page views and page leave events. For authenticated users, we also associate your user ID, email address, subscription tier, beta access status, and account creation date with your activity. Staff accounts are excluded from tracking.   • OpenStreetMap: Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap. Their privacy policy applies to map tile requests.
  • Stripe: Payment processing is handled by Stripe. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Notion: Anonymized, aggregated usage summaries (e.g., signup counts, search volume) may be stored in Notion for internal operational review. No personally identifiable information is included. See Notion's privacy policy.
  • CDN Resources: JavaScript libraries (Leaflet, HTMX, Alpine.js) are loaded from unpkg.com.
